Meaningless Goals

Everyday while going home, I see this one dog who sits near the roadside waiting for a car to come around. As and when any car comes in speed he runs down the road, barking and trying to overtake it. I know this was not unusual even I have seen many such dogs earlier and this one is no different.
After watching this one regularly over a period of time...I got irritated... One I questioned myself, "Is this dog ever going to catch a car?" Obviously 'NO'. Still he is trying.
But that is not what bothers me. What bothers me is that, what he would do if he ever caught one. Is he in anyway aware about the reason behind his action.
Many people in life behave like this dog, pursuing meaningless goals. And once they achive it they don't have any idea about where to go next. They see a roadblock in front of them.
